Oh, it looks like my five-year anniversary of blogging on this platform was a week or so ago! As is tradition, I went ahead and grep-ed through my history to determine the relative frequencies of the various gods I mention:

  • Inana/Ishtar/Astarte/Aphrodite/Venus: 15%
  • Angel/Daimon/Muse: 14%
  • Isis/Demeter/Ceres/Hera/Juno/Leto/Latona: 10%
  • Osiris/Dionusos/Bacchus/Poseidaon/Neptune: 8%
  • Horos/Apollon: 7%
  • Intellect/Mind/Nous/Monad/Kronos/Saturn: 7%
  • Ouranos/the One/the Good/the Tao: 6%
  • Seth/Haides/Aidoneus/Plouto: 4%
  • Zeus/Jupiter/Jove/World Soul: 4%
  • Eros/Cupid/Love: 4%
  • Helios/Sol/Sun: 3%
  • Selene/Luna/Moon: 2%
  • Hermes/Mercury: 2%
  • Tukhe/Fortuna: 2% (probably so high because of geomancy)
  • Ares/Mars: 1%
  • Athene/Minerva: 1%
  • Anoubis/Artemis/Diana/Hekate: 1%
  • Persephone/Proserpine: 1%

I have been extremely inconsistent with spelling over the years, and have attempted to account for this. There were also quite a number of miscellaneous other deities from half a dozen pantheons, but I've omitted any that scored less than 1%. Biggest changes from last time are the obviously large boost to Isis/Osiris/Horos based on my studies over the last year, and changes in how I syncretize deities.

(Yes, I syncretize Isis to somehow fight on both sides of the Troian war. What can I say? Greek theology is a mess.)

I didn't touch the heroes that are obviously derived from the myths of the gods, but counting them wouldn't have changed much: as far as I can tell, Horos would have switched places with Osiris, but that's about it.

Actually, I think I jumped the gun in posting my Hero-Myth Rosetta Stone... it needs to cook a little longer, lest I mislead anyone. I have taken it down again for the moment. I apologize if anyone was in the midst of using it!

I have made a minor behind-the-scenes update to the Amissio Geomantic Chart Generator, attempting to streamlining the images and fix some rendering issues that came up in unusual situations. Please let me know if you run into any issues!

Several people have been noting disruptions to Dreamwidth. I've not experienced any myself, but for future reference, if Dreamwidth breaks, my content (which I of course have local copies of) will be gradually migrated to my own web server, at https://amissio.net/.

Once the whole is divided, the parts need names.
There are already enough names.
One must know when to stop.
Knowing when to stop averts trouble.
The Tao in the world is like a river flowing home to the sea.

(Laozi, Tao Te Ching XXXII, as translated by Gia-fu Feng and Jane English)

Thanks again, Violet.

I've been blogging here for three-and-a-half years. I thought it might be fun to see how often I reference various divinities in that time. I was surprised by the results!
  1. Apollo or Helios or Sol or the Sun: 998 times
  2. Aphrodite or Venus: 797 times
  3. The One or the Good or the Tao: 545 times
  4. Angel or Dæmon (various spellings) or my deity: 284 times
  5. Eros or Cupid or capital-L Love: 222 times
  6. Jove or Zeus or Jupiter: 107 times
  7. Kronos (various spellings) or Saturn: 87 times
  8. Ares or Mars: 79 times
  9. Artemis or Diana or Selene or Luna or the Moon: 71 times
  10. Hermes or Mercury: 69 times
  11. Ouranos (various spellings): 51 times
  12. Hera or Juno: 30 times
  13. Poseidon or Neptune: 27 times
  14. Pan: 23 times
  15. Athena or Minerva or Pallas: 22 times
  16. Dionysus or Bacchus: 21 times

I also found a scattered few references each for Persephone/Proserpine/Kore, Hades/Pluto, Demeter/Ceres, Eris/capital-D-Discord, Heracles/Hercules, Inanna/Ishtar/Astarte, Osiris, and Isis. I figure there's probably at least a hundred references to the Intellect/Nous/etc., but I have been so inconsistent with terminology there that I didn't even attempt a search.

I was so sure that Venus was going to top the list by a large margin that I figured I'd have to anticipate the old "men always think about sex" joke. I was surprised to see that She wasn't even first place! That's probably because of all the philosophy I go on about...

Moving Day

Via

Two months later and one-fifteenth of a world away, and we just moved into a new house. I had anticipated moving from my New Year's chart, but nonetheless, what a strange experience this has all been! Thanks again for all yours prayers and well-wishes: despite the challenges, it's clear that we've been blessed through all this.

A Postcard

I've spent essentially the entirety of my life in New York and New England. These past weeks have seen me all over North America. If there's anything striking to me, it is how very Saturnine the Northeast is! I suppose I should have realized this sooner—the Puritans were Saturn to a tee, Yankees are known for their frugality, the governments (even the local ones!) are extremely bureaucratic, and the COVID-19 lockdowns are so severe there even now, a year on.

But I've such a Saturnine personality myself, and even if my Saturn is dignified, too much of a single kind of energy is crushing. I never realized how harshly it all affected me! We're finding that being anywhere else is like a breath of fresh air. (I'm allowed to leave the house here! I still can't believe it.)

Things are crazy, but nonetheless, we're healing and almost drowning in synchronicities. Thank you all for your prayers.

The time has come and we're going.

I've been keeping my readings over the last couple years—the above stack is roughly since December, but I have several more like it—and I've been meaning to collect statistics for [community profile] conjunctio with them. Unfortunately, we're leaving now and I don't have the time to digitize them or the space to take them with me, so whatever secrets may lurk within will be lost. I'm sorry for that.

I'll only be intermittently available for a while. Your prayers are welcome.
