Interesting. It is my suspicion that yes, these things are ontologically simultaneous—a gradient, rather like the spectrum of light, with the material at one end and the various levels of "immateriality" on the rest of the dial. Thus some entities become incarnate, at the "lowest" level...but with the proviso that "low" is just a comparison to spatial relations, and should not be taken literally.

And yet I could be utterly mistaken about all of this... :)
