Given how very short OTGATW is, the fact that a tenth of it is devoted to the proper interpretation of myths indicates how very critical Sallustius considers it. I've been quite sick most of this year, and one of my diversions has been going back over some of my favorite myths in light of Sallustius' point that they should not be taken at surface level.
