On Knowing More

There's an old survival adage, "The more you know, the less you carry." It refers to skills in wilderness situations: the more skill you have, the less gear you need. For example, if you are well-practiced at starting fires with flint and steel, then you don't need lighters or matches or other things that can run out or wear out or get wet and fail, allowing you to travel lighter when backpacking or hiking or camping or what-have-you.
It occurs to me that this is a direct expression of the first triplicity in geomantic charts. Your first and ninth houses determine your second house ("the more you know, the less you carry"), while conversely your first and second houses determine your ninth house ("the less you know, the more you carry").
