On Mythological Origins
Aug. 13th, 2021 02:54 amIn the the Babylonian King List and Bit Meseri, there were ten great kings before the deluge. The first seven of these kings had sages, who were described as fish-men who came from the rivers, “control the plans of heaven and earth,” and taught mankind wisdom. The seventh of these was Utuabzu, “who ascended to heaven.”
These sages were obviously associated with Ea, god of water and wisdom, who was credited with the art of astrology.
In Genesis, there were ten patriarchs before the deluge. The seventh of these was Enoch, who “walked with God: and he was not, for God took him.” In Islam, Enoch is identified with the prophet Idris, who came from Babylon, was associated with wisdom, and was “raised to a lofty station.”
Geomancy is said to have been communicated to Idris by the angel Gabriel, and thence to the rest of humanity.
Geomancy is called "the daughter of astrology."
