Thinking about it more, I notice that the seven generations of Thebai seem to match "Ra's" model of seven degrees of consciousness. Oudaios ("of the ground") is born from the earth, while the "red" level of consciousness is foundational and is the consciousness of inanimate things. Eueres ("good for lifting") is indicative of the "orange" level of consciousness, which is the consciousness of growth (plants, animals). Teiresias is born in the third generation and continues for all the rest, which is because the "yellow" level of consciousness relates to identity and is the level in which the soul becomes individualized; here he also kills his snakes because the "yellow" level is the one in which an individual decides the path it will follow for the rest of the levels. Here the Teiresias myth more-or-less leaves off, with Teiresias presumably following his path through the "green" level of love, "blue" level of wisdom, and "indigo" level of unity; but the "violet" level of consciousness (presumably, since "Ra" claimed to have not mastered unity yet) is to be reabsorbed into the All and go on to co-create a universe in a new "octave" of levels, and this is paralleled as Teiresias went off to found a new city after the sack of Thebai.
