I am glad to know I am not the only one who cannot find a definitive version of the Dionysus myth.

One interpretation that you may find interesting regarding the boiling and roasting (from https://bakcheion.wordpress.com/our-god/some-background-on-the-toys-of-dionysos/) is

"first they boil the pieces of Dionysos’ flesh and then roast them on skewers, which is a complete inversion of the normal procedure (first barbeque, then stew) and thus represents the triumph of barbarity over civilization."
