Yes, that's the one! It was one of the first things I read in Greek (after the account of the Battle of Thermopylae), and I've loved it ever since, though I had blanked on the names. I also suppose I inserted the "cheated the father" bit to make the protagonist a little more sympathetic, still great stuff.
(Fun fact: one reason why shaving half of the beards was such an insult is that at the time, the only dudes with no beards were eunuchs. So you either walked around with half a beard looking ridiculous, or you looked like a Eunuch - neither very desirable for red-blooded guardsmen!)
