Yes, "nous." Perhaps the also-traditional "mind" is better? Since minds are less egghead-y than intellects. (Mind also has the benefit of being a nice, short four letter word, like "good" and "soul"...)
A lot of commentaries I've seen direct me to Pseudo-Dionysius as well. I have a really hard time reading Christians—even light works, like Lorna Byrne's, are very painful and take me a lot of effort—but I feel I ought to make the attempt at Pseudo-Dionysius and Dante one of these years.
