I'm also interested in the fact that the two translations vary here. One says "Gods" the other, "God." Is the Greek not specific viz. singular/plural? Would Sallustius have been, by default, referring to "Gods" as a category rather than (as is common in Christian-derived thought) using the term "God" to indicate a specific deity?
