This touches on something I've been thinking about, in a somewhat different framework. What do we make of, say, the atheist who avows there is no soul—who essentially denies that aspect of themselves? Is it possible this denial leads to the diminution and discarding of the soul? What is the outcome for that individual?

I admit that is different than not having a soul whatsoever, though.
