I realized another parallel that should have been obvious to me:

You know how, when Zeus became king of heaven, his father Kronos—who had been king of the Golden Age—became king of Elysium and ruled the heroic dead?

You know how, when Horus became king of Egypt, his father Osiris—who had been king of a "golden age"—became king of Duat and the honored dead?
