glad to hear you have got to the new place and I hope it is perfect for you all. If you mentioned more about it anywhere i have missed it. But I am annoyed by people who want special reports just because they were slack so I don't ask!

Fruit apart from citrus is very hard to grow to ripeness in private gardens in this country; there are so many wantonly destructive birds. Nets are awkward to install and expensive and kill birds that become trapped in them so people get put off by the harm (even though it was to a thief) and give up. We even had microscopic birds last summer stealing the boysenberries that were bigger than their own heads!

I am trying to find the booze book you recommend although PK has become pretty proficient with brewing by now so he feels confident to wing it with this test batch of wine.

There is so much wisteria and such prolific roses in the garden that I have been making naturally-fermented cordial from them since moving here. I am sorry if I have mentioned that already. It isn't intoxicating and is so sweet one can't take too much of it. But it's a lovely refreshing drink of a summer afternoon.
